Chorleywood Jazz Band started in 2018 when The Russell School asked Chorleywood Music to create a jazz band to play at their summer fair. We haven't looked back and since then we have grown both our membership and our repertoire. We love playing for the community and for charity and have played at Chenies Manor, Chorleywood Christmas Festival, Chorleywood Summer Village Day, Community D Day Celebrations, birthday parties and several local care homes. We play jazz hits spanning the 20th Century. We would welcome new members, and are inclusive of most instruments. We typically play around 4 to 5 gigs every year and rehearse in advance of gigs.
Our next performance is at Chorleywood Christmas Festival on the main stage - come along and hear us on Friday 6th December 2024 at around 6.40pm - we will be playing all the jazzy Christmas favourites. Then we will be back on stage on Saturday 7th December 2024 at around 2.30pm at the amazing Chiltern Open Air Museum.
Please do get in touch with Christine, email: christinedeeley@gmail.com if you would like to find out more. We would love to hear from you if you are interested in joining us or you would like us to come and play for you.
Tributes:
"Thank you so much to the amazing jazz band for helping to raise over £1200 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity at the 2023 Christmas Concert at Chenies Manor, providing not only entertainment but inspiration to all the younger musicians in the audience."
"thank you so much for your kindness and generosity in putting together a jazz afternoon for Christ Church holiday at home at The Beaumont. An incredible 13 musicians were very impressive indeed! We are very grateful to the band for all the hard work."
From the team at Bury Lake Young Mariners, Rickmansworth Aquadrome "The live jazz music created a wonderful atmosphere that was enjoyed by all, set with the lake and a beautiful sunset, playing a series of popular big band pieces as well as many songs with solo instruments and vocalists."
